ABOUT ME
Hello! I’m Grace Kim, a Graphic Design major with an Applied AI minor at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia. I grew up in Newburgh, Indiana, and currently live in Carmel, Indiana. Moving between different environments has shaped the way I observe people, spaces, and visual culture, which strongly influences both my design work and personal projects.
Creativity has always been at the center of who I am. Whether I’m sketching, painting, or building digital compositions, I enjoy creating work that feels intentional, emotionally honest, and visually clear. I primarily work digitally because it gives me the flexibility and precision to fully develop my ideas, but I also enjoy combining analog and digital methods by scanning hand-drawn elements into my compositions. My style is generally representational, clean, and minimal, often using sharp lines, structured layouts, and geometric forms to create a sense of clarity and balance.
A lot of my work is inspired by personal childhood experiences, mental health, religion, and my experience growing up as a minority in small-town southern Indiana. These perspectives often shape the themes I explore, especially identity, faith, and emotional processing. Creating art has become a way for me to translate complicated thoughts and emotions into something visual and structured when words alone do not feel enough.
I’m especially comfortable working across both fine arts and digital design, with experience using tools like Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to bring ideas to life across multiple mediums. Looking ahead, I hope to work as a designer in a city like Chicago, ideally within the sports industry designing for a professional team or athletic organization. I’m also interested in working for a luxury automotive brand such as BMW or Mercedes-Benz, where branding, visual identity, and refined design come together in impactful ways.
